Supporting the Wheatbelt Community through the Community Chest: Christmas Food Hampers

Merredin IGA is proud to be supporting the Merredin Churches’ Fraternal 2025 Christmas Hamper Drive through its Community Chest Program, donating $1,300 to help pack and distribute around 75 boxes of groceries to local families in need during the end of year holiday season.

The initiative, led by the Merredin Churches’ Fraternal—a collaboration of five local churches—aimed to bring relief and joy to community members facing hardship. The hampers, filled with essential groceries and festive items, were distributed to families across Merredin to ensure no one was left behind during Christmas.

"Giving back to the community that gives so much to us is at the heart of what we do," said Elisha Bennett, Store Manager of Merredin IGA. "We are grateful for the opportunity to support this important initiative and extend a huge thank you to our dedicated staff, loyal customers, and the incredible volunteers who worked tirelessly to make the hamper drive a success."

The Christmas Hamper Drive is just one example of how Merredin IGA, through the Community Chest Program, is committed to uplifting the community and supporting local initiatives that make a real difference in people’s lives.
