CEO’s Christmas Message
It’s mid-December already! The Christmas decorations are up, stores are brimming with Christmas fare and, as always, our team are making sure everyone else has a wonderful Christmas.
Supermarkets and service stations are such an essential service, always there when people need us, contributing to their quality of life and special occasions.
But services are delivered by people, not stores. As we head towards the end of another year, I want to thank all IRAM team for their continued dedication, hard work and professionalism throughout 2023.
We have faced floods, bushfires, challenges with freight and the after-effects of the pandemic. But our stores have continued to go from strength to strength.
Significant changes were made this year to the financial services provided to IRAM, with the engagement of McBurney’s Chartered Accountants and our book keeping team who are now contracted directly to IRAM.
Key appointments during the year were Elisha Bennet as our Store Manager in Merredin, Senad Begic as our Assistant Store Manager and Chloe Roissetter as our Fresh Food and Duty Manager. For Tennant Creek IGA, Angus Harrison as Store Manager and Gabe Kilpin as Assistant Store Manager. We now have a great team in place at the Tennant Creek BP under the leadership of Darsh Abeyrathne and Dipika KC. We also welcomed to the IRAM Executive Team, Andrew Hobers as Merchandise and Marketing Manager.
The Merredin store is showcasing new refrigeration and the BP and the IGA in Tennant Creek are backed up with generator power so they can keep operating in blackouts.
We are delivering on our commitment to diversity, with more women in leadership roles and a stronger representation of cultures across our stores.
I thank our Board for their valued support and our suppliers and service providers for their many contributions behind the scenes, support that is critical to our efficient operations.
On a sad note, I acknowledge the tragic loss of our Merchandise and Marketing Manager Chris Bettles in March. Chris had been with IRAM since 2016, after a lifetime of retail experience, and is sorely missed.
I’m sure new challenges will arise in 2024. But, for now, I just want to thank everyone for their hard work, dedication, and teamwork.
Christmas is about family, getting together with friends and, I hope, some down time for all.
As IRAM team continue to provide services throughout the festive season, I hope each and every one of you is able to spend time with valued friends and family.
Please be safe and I look forward to working with all of you in 2024.
Yours sincerely,
John Kop
